Mobilising significant resources for Africa

Participate in ‘Mobilising significant resources for Africa, what role for young Africans in the diaspora?’ survey.

You are invited to take part in a survey being jointly conducted by the African Foundation for Development (AFFORD) and the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF), about giving to Africa. The title of the study is ‘Mobilising significant resources for Africa, what role for young Africans in the diaspora?’ and it is being done to collect information about attitudes to giving back to Africa amongst young people with an African heritage aged between 18-35 year olds in the UK.

Africa Gives is an innovative initiative, which aims to engage young diaspora Africans to contribute to the development of Africa, through a variety of ways. The programme of activities includes the launch of an online platform, which will enable young diaspora Africans to get give back to Africa in a structured way.

There is currently very little understanding of the needs of young Africans who wish to get involved with Africa, and so it is important that you feedback via the online survey as honestly as possible.

The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete, and will ask you questions about the following:

  • Your connections to Africa
  • Different types of giving to Africa
  • Whether you have considered investing in Africa
  • Ways in which you would like to get involved with African development initiatives

Data gathered will be used to inform how AFFORD and AMREF will engage with young African diaspora in the UK, and support this target group to give their time, skills and money to Africa through the Africa Gives online platform and AMREFs health development projects. It will also enable us to respond to priorities that you may have such as internships in Africa.

We would like to gather as many views as possible, so please complete all relevant questions in the survey and do circulate the link to all young African diaspora within your networks.

The findings from this study will be published in August 2013, and will be available on AFFORD’s website (www.afford-uk.org).

Please click on the link below to complete the survey. The deadline for completion of the survey is Friday 5th July 2013. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/AGIVES2013
